Thread: Western Digital Launches New Range Of Scorpio Black Hard Drives

Western Digital is delivering its new line of Scorpio Black 7200 RPM 2.5-inch SATA (Serial ATA) hard drives for high-performance notebook computers and handy storage devices. It is available in 320GB of storage capacity and it features IntelliSeek technology that calculates optimum seek speed with lower power consumption and does not produce more noise or vibration during the use.
The drives are outfitted with SecurePark that park the recording heads off the disk surface during signup spin down and when the drive is off. This ensures the recording head never touches the disk surface resulting in improved long term reliability due to less head wear, and improved shock easiness.


The WD Scorpio Black hard drives come with ShockGuard (shock-Resistant) technology that protects the drive mechanics and platter surfaces from shocks during shipping and handling and in every day process. They also feature Free-fall Sensor - an added layer of protection. If the drive (or the system it's in) is dropped while in use, the sensor detects that the drive is falling and, in less than 200 milliseconds, parks the head off the disks which ahelp prevent from getting your data being damage and data loss. The drives are also equipped with WD's exclusive WhisperDrive technology that combines state-of-the-art seeking algorithms that result in one of the quietest 2.5-inch drives on the market. The drive rotate at a speed of about 7200 RPM with a SATA 3 Gb/s interface and 16 MB cache to deliver maximum notebook performance. The Western Digital Hard Drive will be available at all the selected distributors in India.
