Iomega's unimaginatively-named Home Media Network Hard Drive plugs into your router and provides shared storage for all your wired and wireless devices. It can be connected only via Gigabit Ethernet. Just plug it in and the drive will pick up an IP address via DHCP. Iomega advises you to install a system tray utility, but it does nothing but launch Explorer windows for each folder icon, so it can safely be skipped. EMC's Retrospect Express HD backup software is also included. It's capable of archiving files on a schedule, but isn't the easiest to use. However the drive has many hidden secrets, including iTunes Server and DLNA support for sharing your digital music and videos with suitably equipped PCs, laptops, LCD TVs, digital photo frames, etc. You can also set access permissions for security. And a USB port allows you to hook up your printer and share it across the network.
