In current years G.Skill has achieved quiet an high-performance reputation for send high quality enthusiast grade computer factors at very reasonable price points. A little months ago we had view at their 100GB Phoenix SSD and moved away extremely impressed. With that drive G.Skill searched a very uncommon and different way to overcome what acounted to crippled firmware they used nice factor.
Now we will be looking at the Phoenix PRO line which takes a many more sensible reach it comes to giving their customers the nice work G.Skill ponied up the amount for a high speed firmware from the getgo. This latest and changed model comes in three available capacities 40, 60 and 120GB and we will be looking at the highest and lowest stop of the spectrum in this article.
For a while after we glanced at the Phoenix 100GB G.Skill released an extended range which they dubbed the Phoenix 120GB. Sadly they were not able to use the similar bit faster NAND modules when they released the Phoenix 120GB expanded figure so while it was from all reports a good drive it was not as fast as the initial 100GB product. With very little options presently left G.Skill stuck with SandForce, used the unlocked firmware and the Phoenix Pro line was produced.
The fact that G.Skill is workable paying for a faster firmware does bring up one major question has the price associated with this high speed firmware been worked into the cost of these drives. Considering the 40GB and 120GB figures are needed for about 125 and 200 USD respectively which happens to be only a little bucks more than non-PRO branded drives we doubt not. In our view that’s a better thing for any potential customers but can G.Skill’s latest Phoenix Pro line compete with few of the good drives on the market.
