Powered by an external adapter, with one USB 2.0 and two FireWire ports, the OneTouch is a pleasant looking external drive. The OneTouch 4 Plus offers a whopping one terabyte of storage space to backup your system's entire hard drive contents including the operating system. It also comes with the Maxtor SafetyDrili utility for backing up your system. You can back up or synchronize your data, or create an image of the operating system on the external storage. This image can later be restored, in case of a system failure or virus/ spyware infection, using the bootable rescue CD supplied with it.

The Maxtor OneTouch 4 Plus is built using a 7200 RPM 1 TB hard drive with a 16 MB buffer. The read and write speeds are quite good. It is fast and large enough to accommodate all the audio, photos, video, documents and other files which
we tend to accumulate in this age of broadband connections. The device is not too heavy, but is too bulky to carry around regularly, hence making it restricted for desktop computers. The OneTouch 4 Plus is equipped with a Kensington lock port which helps protect it from theft. The package includes one USB cable, one FireWire 400 cable, a power adapter, the synchronizing and backup software (preloaded on the hard drive itself) and a rescue disk.
