Videologic / Imagination Technologies is nearly familiar for their PowerVR serial of graphics chips, however these individuals do much more than only graphics boards adding a kind of multimedia products such as the HomeC@m Universal Serial Bus Camera, the Sirocco line of Computer speakers and they too have the SonicVortex2 soundcard.

Based on Aureal's Vortex ii chip, the Sonic Vortex ii is directed to the hardcore gamers that need the excellent 3D positional audio present thanks to the A3D 2.0 API, and although Vortex ii sound cards have been present for a moment just they are much affordable than what they were at introduction so that each serious gamer can have one less spending the large bucks.

Set up was nice & simple. Opened up the case, got rid of my Sound Blaster Live, substituted it with the Sonic Vortex ii and attached the CD & speaker cables again. It was that easy. I was ittle bit surprised when physically equating the 2 cards. The Sound Blaster Live appeared excellent then the Vortex ii, which has a slightly cheap expect to it.

Booting up was well; the card was observed as common & the driver set up followed. Excat, right? I was a small disappointed through the deficiency of alternatives with the set up. The just alternatives available was to set up assist/documentation documents onto the hard drive. Other than that set up was an easy loading of the drivers & re-booting.

Bundled software added 3D Future beat, a demonstrate of E-Jay & Jet-audio – a multimedia player, much similar to the Creative Play center, but with an unpleasant appearance to it. We are not purchasing this card because of the software bunches, are we?

Downloading the new drivers from A3D set few of grievances I had with the card. Similar to the game trouble & the high central processing unit usage, which we have entire heard about.

The manual, much similar to the software, comprised the basics. Functional but nothing too elaborated. In equivalence to my Sound Blaster Live, I got this product to be a bit on the thin side as concerns the little niceties. I was disappointed that there were no additional wires with this card to hook up peripherals. Rather an over-sight if you do not already have any spare.
