I referred to the workshop in which helps make a regular webcam into an IR camera for night vision. It was fantastic and I am having fun with the workshop. But now I am in trouble. I need to use the web camera in my balcony and during the day I cannot get any images at all. I thought of replacing the IR filter back again in the camera, but I have lost the filter. What can I do now? Where can I get a filter? Is there any other alternative?

You cannot use the hacked camera in broad daylight as the camera is very sensitive to IR light and daylight has a higher intensity of IR rays. The camera will give out washed out images. You need to install the filter back again. But if you have lost the IR filter, there is very little possibility of getting one in the market.

The only way you can get one is to hunt for a similar camera in the scrap market and remove the IR filter from it and mount it on your camera. Another way is to install an external IR filter in front of the camera lens. IR filters are available, but are large in size and are also expensive. I would recommend you to buy another camera rather than spending on the filter. Another cheap alternative is to step down to your local spectacle shop and ask him to provide you with waste IR lenses or filter glasses. You would need to cut this IR glass to size and figure out a way to mount it whether behind the lens or in front of it. All the very best!
