Dual core for W2K

Ok, so I have some sibling’s and my computer crashed. I don’t exactly know or mind that what has taken place; it also required a reformat anyhow. But as I get ready to upgrade the motherboard and the processor in my computer, can WIN2K hold up a dual core in it also?
