After having fair knowledge about working with console and snap-ins, let us now save the console for future purposes. Once saved, you can distribute the console to other administrators to manage their computer resources. They can use the console just as you did on your computer. Let us save the console at' a location on the computer which can be remembered and accessed easily. And what else this other location could be than the Desktop. So, undertake the following steps to save the console on the computer's desktop.
1. Move the mouse-pointer over the Console menu and click the left mouse-button
2. In the pull-down menu, move the mouse-pointer over the Save option and click the left mouse-button
3. A Save As dialog box appears with some highlighted console name
4. Type some meaningful name for the console. For instance, type MyFirstConsole. This text will replace the highlighted console name beside the File name option
5. After naming the console move the mouse-pointer over the down-arrow button beside the Save in option and click the left mouse-button. A drop-down box appears. Move the mouse-pointer over the Desktop option and click the left mouse-button
6. Various folders present on the Desktop appear
7. Move the mouse-pointer over the Save button and click the left mouse-button. The MyFirstConsole gets saved on the Desktop
8 . The name appears on the Title of the MMC Window
9. Now, move the mouse-pointer over the Close button present 0Tl the MMC Window and click the left mouse¬button. The MMC window closes
On reaching the Desktop you will see the icon of MyFirstConsole as shown in following figure.
To open the console for use or modification, simply move the mouse-pointer over the icon of
MyFirstConsole and double-click the left mouse-button.
