Thread: Editing of registry disabled by the administrator

I’m using Windows 2000 wherein I have lastly formatted my PC and started it over again. Then I tried to get into my registry by running the Start-Run-Regedit in it and got a message saying that "Registry editing has been disabled by your administrator". The account which I am using also has the admin rights for it.

Any Suggestions about it?

I’m having a single system and there is no domain in my computer.

This might be very odd on a brand new install. However open the Local Group Policy via gpedit.msc and then go to the user configuration/administrative tools/system and there you will find the option for disabling the registry editing as before. Also set it to be disabled to see that it helps you with your problem.

This is mainly due to the virus problem in your computer.
