    Default Windows Installer messed up

Someway I messed up my Windows Installer where it won't set up anything. Been looking for answers for a short time currently so I don't even keep in mind what I did. All I want to do is reinstall the installer. But I haven't a clue. I only get lost in the Microsoft site. Something I know I've trained myself by both books and test & error. When I undertake to set up I get the subsequent message: "The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can arise if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not properly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance."

OS name: Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
    version: 5.0.2195 Service Pack 4 Build 2195
    System Manufacturer: Gateway
    System Model: GP6-300
    system type: x86-based PC
processor: x86 family model 5 Stepping 2 GenuineIntel ~298 Mhz
BIOS version: PhoenixBIOS 4.0 release 6.0

It matters. As I can get that to occur on titles like Paint.net. The attach differs from other installer issues.

In rapid safe mode, what I do.

    1. Uninstall the installer. (May be demanding something to skip.)

    2. Make use of the "Installer Cleanup Utility" to eliminate PENDING INSTALLS

    3. If any .NET installs issues make use of the removal tool at

    4. At this point you go get the newest installer as well as install that. Also, as these Windows 2000 (W2K) installs tend to save a lot of "crud!" I recommend a run of CCLEANER in its DEFAULT settings as well as clean it 3 times with the similar setting it installs with to expel old temporary files.
