When Windows is installed on a PC that has an Intel x86-based processor and the boot record for the active partition or files required to boot Windows becomes corrupted, it is not possible to boot Windows or any other operating system on that PC.
You should form Windows boot disk when you installed windows on your PC, to avoid this kind of situation. This is a different disk from an MS-DOS boot disk because Windows operating system can not fit on single disk as MS-DOS can. This disk contains the files that is required to start the operating system with the rest of the windows system files installed on the hard disk.
To create disk method is given below:
1. Put a blank floppy disk in drive A and format the disk using Windows NT or later.
2. Copy the following files to the floppy disk from the source folder of your hard disk:
* Boot.ini
* NTLDR
* Ntdetect.com
3. The hidden, system, and read-only features to the files on your hard disk should be restored.
4. If either the Bootsect.dos or the Ntbootdd.sys file exist in the system partition, execute steps 2 through 4 above to copy these files to the boot disk.
If floppy disk formatted in Windows NT or later ,the boot record points to the NTLDR file. When NTLDR runs, it loads the existing operating system choices from the Boot.ini file.If you select Windows, NTLDR runs Ntdetect.com, and then passes control to Osloader.exe. If you chooses MS-DOS or OS/2, NTLDR loads Bootsect.dos.
