It is therefore, initially, to decide if you want to upgrade your version of Windows, or if you prefer a brand new facility. Some important details are known for this step. To begin the upgrade can be done only from your current system, and can not be booting from the disk. This means in particular that it is impossible to update a Windows 32-bit to 64-bit versions. Another important point: the edition of Windows 7 that you install must match the one you already have on your hard disk for the upgrade is possible. For example, a Windows Vista Ultimate can not be upgraded to a Windows 7 Professional. This will require you obtain a Windows 7 Ultimate to perform your upgrade; otherwise you'll have to do a fresh install.

The other option, “Custom” is a fresh install and then deletes the data on the hard disk. In case you forgot, the installer still make a backup of the Windows folder of the old system, put it in a folder Windows. Old.

    Installation Step: Select Score

The time has come to choose the partition that will accommodate Windows 7. Be aware that installing Windows 7 may occupy several GB hard disk. We must therefore ensure you have as much space available before you start such an operation. In our example, the Windows installation is complete once occupied about 5 GB on disk.

    Installation Walkthrough: Copying files

The worst is over, and once these few formalities completed, the installation program will then begin copying the necessary files on the hard disk. The operation may take several minutes and require multiple reboots; it is actually the longest part of the system installation. Think while you restart the machine must not occur on the DVD, but on the drive where the program will complete the installation.

    Choice of username

Therefore you have to name your session and your computer. Here you create the account the user's main computer, but it will of course be possible to then create new accounts once the system is installed. For each account, restrictions will be decided and a different password applied. The name of your machine is also important, as it can possibly be used to identify your computer on a LAN.

    Choose a password

Although it is recommended setting a password is not mandatory. If however you decide to use one, you will be called an index, similar to a secret question on the Internet, which will aim to remember your password if you forget.

    Setting Windows Update

Penultimate step in installing Windows 7: Setting Windows Update. This in effect provides the user to automatically download all available updates for its products, what we recommend, or simply the latest security updates. The third option, less recommended, leaving the user the choice to connect itself to Windows Update to do its updates manually. If this method is more tedious, however it leaves control over the installation of updates.
