Raid 0 allows increased performance by dividing the saving across multiple drives so it complete save operation in less time. It is most efficient when all drives are identical. You will need a Raid controller either on your motherboard or Raid PCI card. You will find support for IDE and SATA on the same card or board, but it would blow out any efficiency you would have gained. Remember that with Raid 0, you get no redundancy, no back up, No data security. If one drive fails, you have nothing!! I would recommend invest in a FAST drive with a larger buffer (SATA) and use you other sata drives for back up. Or use your current SATA drive as above with one of your PATA drives for back up. IF you must go with Raid 0, use identical drives and research the best controller for your needs. AND consider some form of back up or alternate RAID that is more redundant.
