Thread: Windows Explorer freezing

I'm running Windows Vista Basic. When I try to access Win Explorer it opens but freezes with a white monitor. When I try to close it I get a message that it is not responding. If I try to open Task Manager by using ctrl + alt + Del I get the timer for a second then nothing. I've tried using the reinstate disc but that does not solve the difficulty. I identify it's a virus issue but it oppose every effort to get to it.

You should not that wipe the hard drive and re-install Windows? Reinstalling Windows must get free of all viruses.
