    Default Windows Installation problem

I have Intel P4 dual core system with 512 mb RAM. My problem is that as installing windows XP I did the unfinished installation of XP on my c: partition; and I did complete installation on d: partition. My Operating installation is on d: partition. But whenever I start the computer it shows me two windows options. I want to remove c: partition installation from my computer but whenever I click on format to C: drive.

You don’t need to format the C: partition in its place you can remove the invalid boot menu entry. To do this boot into XP, go to Control panel and double click 'system’. In the system properties window, select 'Advanced' Tab and then select 'settings' under 'startup and Recovery' option. Now click edit and remove the invalid startup entry under operating Systems menu & save. Do not remove the primary entry which is the present Working Boot menu entry. And now you can delete all the contents in C: partition.

If you installed the D partition after the one on C the boot.ini file will still be found on the C drive. You need to edit that by unchecking the hide all protected system files and known file addition in the view settings tab found in the folder options. From there right click on the boot.ini now complete visible to uncheck the "read only" box followed by clicking the apply button.

one time you all that done just double click on it or open it with Note Pad in order to remove the r disk (0) partition (1) entry making sure r disk(0)partition(2) is observe in the default OS line above the two entries and choose the save as option all files not txt to see the unique copy overwritten. That will then see the second installation simply and made the default OS.
