Primary thing that comes to mind correct away on this problem could be from an unfinished install when going to upgrade from Vista into windows 7 there. One thing you could try is making a new folder for keeping wallpapers in and copying some jpg rather then bmp wallpapers into that. The folder would be directed in the Windows directory to keep things formed rather then the need to search the driveformerly you have any new wallpaper copied into it you can try right clicking on the desktop to choose the Personalization option and continue to the change background link where you then choose the browse button and go to the new folder to choose a new background.

The thought here would be seeing if using a position other then the default Windows choice will work for you. If not you may have contained over some unseen problems during the upgrade and may have to start over to see this adjusted.

I considered that trouble before and it's very difficult trying to explain how to solve it, as it's quiet complex. The best and simplest way I can believe of would be doing a clean install using your upgrade disk.

For most a clean mount from the start is the chose process to start with. One thing you could try earlier finale up trying that out would be functioning the system file checker tool with the upgrade disk in the drive just in case something didn't on totally throughout the upgrade.

To start that up you just bring up the Start menu and if you checked out off the Run box option in the Start properties during the first setup you simply type scan now in on the Run and press enter. This will first confirm the main system files and generally change any found missing which could help. The other thing would be not looking all registry entries created during the upgrade.
