I recently installed Windows 7 on a laptop with dual boot, the startup has changed a lot of time, while Windows XP. I might as well read reports about suspend / hibernate problems when starting grub; Windows, so I am determined to play as safe as possible and start additional method around (Windows bootloader grub). I left the Windows partition unaccompanied, except to reduce the large C: partition from inside Windows 7 using the disk manager

Window 7 Boot Configuration Data Editor must be used to configure Windows 7 to display a menu next to the starting time will allow the user to choose between Windows 7 and a Linux distribution of choice. Distribution of Windows 7 and Linux will remain the same material in the disk. Set up a bcdedit to distinguish and launch a Linux distribution at the top of the next physical disk is not known to me yet.
