Default WLAN features not visible Windows 7

Disappear due to greater conversion work for my PC in a few days from our office. To remain connected to the Internet to be me I'm a wireless stick (Netgear WG111v3) borrowed from a friend. I installed the latest drivers already and came across the following problem:

The bundled with the driver software does not work. When you start the software will only briefly creates a new process of simply disappears after a few seconds. That's why I wanted the wireless features of Windows 7 use. Unfortunately I do not have a wireless icon on the taskbar, even the ability to manage wireless networks in the Network and Sharing Center. If I over the network and Sharing Center will establish a connection to the Internet and the Wireless Connecting, selecting only the small window opens on the task bar that indicates which networks it is connected.I hope you can help me with my problem.

Together with the driver also 'net connection software is installed? If yes - try to open it and then enable the Windows network administration.

Normally should be at least some networks in the system tray icon will be displayed. If the wireless stick works, should a left-click on this icon to display the list of networks that are available (not just those of the affiliated), where you simply select the desired and bonds, possibly with 'NEM password / network key. Incidentally, this is the same window that comes up, if you select the Network and Sharing Center Disconnecting or connecting.

The connection was with the software drivers will not work, so I wanted to use the Windows functions for the wireless connection. In the window on the taskbar, but I will not see wireless connections. Actually, two should be available. I can not receive it because I'm too far away may not be, because I'm sitting right next to the time nor the access point.
