Drive names such as 'Local data carrier' are not very helpful-especially when a PC is equipped with several storage devices. It would be better if Explorer could place the drive letter in front of the name.
You.need a simple registry hack: Open the registry editor
Navigate down to the 'HKEY_ LOCAL_ MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\ Explorer' key. o Now create the 'Show Drive Letters First' entry with 'Edit I New I DWORD value' in the right window and open it with a doubleclick.
Set its value to '4' and confirm with 'OK'. A faulty entry or the default value '0' shows the letters at the end as usual. If you set the value to '1', you will see the letters at the beginning of network drives; with the value '2', Windows Explorer does not show the letter at all. Close the registry editor and restart Windows. The change is effective only after restart.
