Windows Vista (like Windows XP) has a tool that allows us to disconnect our team a removable storage unit with full security. Esta herramienta se nos muestra en la Barra de tareas , con el indicativo de Quitar hardware de forma segura . This tool shows in the taskbar, indicating the Safely Remove Hardware.

If we click on this icon brings up a window with all the removable drives that we have in the team, as we see in the following images:

We simply need to click on the drive you want to do to remove it safely and when we are ready to remove it displays the following message:

But this is not the only place where you can find this tool. If we are to design (My Computer in Windows XP) and click on any removable drive with the right mouse button can also see that we are presented with this option.

Well, we saw how to use this tool. Now let's see how it works and some questions about it:

- Operation:

The operation of this tool is easy. It does stop any process that is being performed on that unit to be removed in complete safety.

- Use:

One question that many people can do is this: Is it really necessary to use this tool to remove a device of this kind?

Well, not really essential, but it is necessary and highly recommended, especially bearing in mind that this is one of the main reasons why a pendrive or an MP3/MP4 damage. In fact the only requirement to remove a unit of this type is that it is completely inactive when removed, otherwise it is quite possible that damage (this is why it often becomes a pendrive totally inaccessible). The difficulty is often in, without using this tool, you know when it is totally inactive, and therefore the unit can be removed safely. This is why I always recommend that you use to be connected to remove a USB drive.

There is one question that many will, and Why are SATA disks with this tool?

In the images below you can see all the SATA disks. Well, this does not happen at all motherboards, but in those with the role of hot-off units, ie without shutting down the system.

SATA drives, as SCSI drives are the property of being able to connect and disconnect hot, so this tool Safely Remove Hardware appear as drives that can be disconnected.

I hope they have helped to clarify a bit the use of this interesting and useful tool.
