System restore is a prominent utility in Windows that can recover files and settings in case of a system crash. It is a must to turn on this feature, but at the same time, it uses a lot of disk space as well. You can limit the amount of disk space system restore uses by executing some commands in the command prompt. To do so:
Click "Start" and type "cmd" in the "Search" box.
Type the command "vssadmin list shadowstorage" and press the [Enter] key. You will now be able to view the amount of disk space system restore has occupied.
To change the amount of space system restore will use, type the command "vssadmin Resize ShadowStorage /For=C: /On=C: / Maxsize=512MB" and press the [Enter] key. Here C: is the drive name whereas 512MB is the storage size.
