When you add drives to your comp'uter, such as an extra hard drive, a CD drive, or a storage device, Windows automatically assigns letters to them. However, you might want to change the drive letter.
When you add drives to your comp'uter, such as an extra hard drive, a CD drive, or a storage device, Windows automatically assigns letters to them. However, you might want to change the drive letter.
To be able to change the drive letter, right click on 'My Computer' and select 'Manage', Under Computer Management, select 'Disk Management'. The right pane of the Window you will see a list of drives with 'CD-ROM' drives listed at the bottom of the pane.
Now, right click the drive or device that needs to be changed and s~lect 'Change drive letters and paths'. tlick 'Change', select 'Assign' the following drive letter and select the drive letter that needs to be assigned. Click on 'OK' once done.
Note:
You will not be able to change the boot drive or system drive letter, since many Windows based programs have references to it. Therefore, changing the drive letter might make these programs unresponsive.
