Default Office 2007 on Vista... "read-only" problem

Presently upgraded to Vista & Office 2007. Every time I attempt as well as open a document (note they are all word 2000 .doc files), it opens as well as says:

    [read-only] [compatibility mode]

Why is this? I actually don't want to have to open as well as resave all my documents; plus, I shouldn't have to... as before Vista, I installed Office 2007 on my Windows XP machine as well as opened all the similar documents with no "read-only" problem.

Someone know why this is happening as well as how to fix it?

Confirm your file perms as well as make certain you did not accidentally set them to Read Only.

It’s normal for a hard with data from an older OS to by design be set to RO when Vista first sees it because it has no User SID to relate the file properties to. If you go to anywhere you want to correlate to your innovative Vista User ID (probably the whole hd if it is a home PC) as well as go into folder permissions, you should be capable to change ownership to your Vista ID for the folder and all subfolders.

We solved this read-only trouble with WebDAV in Vista SP1, IE8 as well as Office 2007 by installing hotfix for KB942392 (On a Windows Vista-based computer, you cannot access certain directories on a Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) server). This hotfix, most likely, will be built-in in Vista SP2.
