I have an Asus PW5 DH Deluxe with double Marvell Yukon 88e8503 Gigabit network adapters with a Realtek Wireless adapter included into the motherboard. I've been running Vista Ultimate x64 for fine over a year with completely no issues at all. This past Wednesday evening I ended using the PC, left it on like I usually do as well as left my office. When I came in the next morning not a bit of the NICs where operational. All I get is the "X" over the icons showing that not anything is plugged in. I tried all of the onboard NICs with no chance, I tried new cables, new drivers, I even tried an unusual router even though all of the other machines on the network are very well. I looked as well as saw that a few Windows updates were installed the preceding night supposed that they were the cause I uninstalled.
I tried Winsock reset. I installed a novel NIC. I was going to do a system restore but for a few cause my PC only had two restore points. The newest one being the reboot from the Windows updates being installed. I'm running Kaspersky Internet Security 2009. I've stop the firewall even though without getting a network connection period I don't see that being the trouble. It didn't help.
All of the other machines on the network are humming along nicely, including the one I'm making this post with. Do you have any ideas that I could try? I really want to NOT wipe and reload this system if possible. My gut tells me this is from the Windows updates but then why uninstalling those help didn’t.
Sorry for the long winded post. Please someone have the answer.
