In Windows 7 and Vista there is change in each user that has a ‘Home’ directory that is really available and intended to be utilized. In XP, you had a unseen home directory that you were not destined to mess around in.
New options like the Downloads directory are only available during Home directory, which is why it creates intelligence to place a symbol for it right on the desktop screen.
For doing this, clack on the Start tab and after that right click by mouse on User name. Select the Show on Desktop feature:
Now your home directory icon must explore on your desktop screen:
Alternating Method
You can even right click by mouse on the desktop screen, from the menu select Personalize, and after that Desktop Icons on the left hand panel.
From this display, you will be able to easily check out the box for user’s files to put the icon to the desktop screen.
