In Windows Vista, Huge arrows are there on the shortcut icons. If you are concerned about the display of your desktop screen, you might not need to view the unattractive arrows.

Note: We’ve experienced this and it executes flawlessly in Windows 7 also. Here is some before and after images so you’ll identify what to guess:

Default:

Views: 916

Shortcut Arrow Removed:

Views: 909
Size:  12.0 KB

Note: So many people have given in about troubles with the registry tweak, I’m going to recommend that first of all you employ the FrameworkX application, and I’m deleting the registry tweaks.
