If you are both an Internet Explorer user and a follower of using custom search provider in your search box, you may be interested to know how you can back up that list and/or restore it on another PC.
Since I am mainly a Firefox user you’ will see that I do not have many items in my search list, but you might have a lot more than I do.
Manual Registry Backup Method
Start>> search or run box>>regedit.exe>> navigate down to the following key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes
Right-click on the SearchScopes key as well as select to Export. Give the file a name as well as save it anywhere handy. To restore this list on one more PC you must only have to double-click on it.
Command Line Method
You can use the method reg.exe command line to backup this key.
Start>> search or run box>>regedit.exe>> navigate down to the following key
Or you can insert this command at the command line or save it in a batch file
reg export “HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes” searchbackup.reg
