Thread: Play Real Media Audio Using VLC

But for those of us not interested in touching RealPlayer digital ten-foot pole, there is a fairly simple way to play streams without the need to sell your soul.

If you are not aware of VLC, it plays almost everything.



After installing the program, open it and press media, the Streaming.



Change the filter drop down menu to All Files.



After that choose your stream and click Play.

Then here simply click the Play Locally box.



Then stream.



And your stream should start playing. This works for RM / RAM audio, but not for all types of video in connection with matters related to the closed codec RealPlayer's. But there is no consistent easy to get away from the RealPlayer before our eyes, at least our ears can enjoy a continuous sound without ever having to click on that silly little speech bubble icon again.
