We were all on our computer, when Windows Update dialog pops up and tells us our computer is restarted. We are convinced that this dialogue was designed to determine when we are most busy, and only prompt us at the moment.

The real issue appears into play when Windows is tired to remind us and said that the PC will reboot in 5 minutes, and the only way you can stop the usual is to temporarily stop Windows Update.

You do not trust this method will work on XP Home or Vista Home users, in accordance with the documentation that you read. You will have to resort to temporary disablement measures in its place.

Manual Registry Hack

Open regedit.exe through the start >>menu search box or run dialog, >> navigate down to the following key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Win dows\WindowsUpdate\AU

Create a new 32-bit DWORD value named

NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers and give it a value of 1 to stop automatic restart until the user is logged on. Remove the value to place things in the technique they were.

Downloadable Registry Hack

Download and extract the registry hack files>> double click on WUNoAutoReboot.reg stop the automatic restart. The other script will delete the hack.

Using Auto Reboot Remover Utility

If you do not want to mess with the registry, you can use a tiny utility created by the guys at IntelliAdmin that will make modification for you. Just make confident you right-click and run as administrator, if you are using Vista.
