I recognize about Windows product key extractor freeware when I lost my Windows XP product key.
While recent Product key v1.06 is not stated to support Vista, it is working well to extract product ID and product key of a 32-bit OEM Windows Vista Ultimate edition.
Product Key v1.06 is a small, separate, freeware Windows product key extractor developed by Nirsofer, which is able to extract and recover lost Windows product key of XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, SQL Server 2005, Office XP, Office 2003, Exchange Server.
As shown in above screenshot, this freeware is enabling to crack and show Windows Vista Ultimate product key.
I checked it on a 32-bit OEM Windows Vista Ultimate edition. So, I believe it will works on every Vista editions, except 64-bit version. Though, there are some well-known problems, as those recognized by Nirsofer:
1. It is not working fine with Dell PCs that have already installed Windows OS. The Windows product key extracted and shown by Product Key utility will be different from product key on Windows setup CD/DVD.
2. Product Key show Visual Studio .Net product key as Office XP product key, as for strange reason that Visual Studio .NET product key is written as Office XP product in Windows Registry.
3. It is unable to extract product key of Office 2000 and below.
There is no additional DLL or installation, simply double-click it to run. By running in GUI mode, Product Key also runs in Command Prompt to extract Windows product keys of an isolated PC, or to specify all PCs on local network or particular domain and crack to load all Windows product keys from them.
So, as waiting for Nirsofer official declaration, you can depend on Product Key to simply retrieve the lost Windows Vista product key.
I will state this Windows product key extractor should have utility in USB thumb-drive.
If Windows fails to boot up, you have a possibility to extract and backup Windows product keys.
