    Default The Windows 2008 Multi Static Routing 101 Issue

    Hi everyone,

    I am a networking nooby, running Win2k8 Standard for office. Now I showed on a Dell 2850. My network map is, Internet -> NIC #1 <-RRAS-> NIC #2 -> Linksys SD216 Switch -> Clients running Windows XP Program.

    Communicating between clients and server works well but my clients don't find internet. I haven't been able to form out how to make this static route work. At least I got down to the point where I know it's gotta be routing table that's messing me up, so I disabled IPv6 on both adapters.

    Hi,

    I have been having similar problem. I was attempting to setup RAS on a domain controller which I found out today causes many problems. It would shutdown DHCP as soon as RAS was enabled. After disabling RAS it clear the default gateway config on my network card. I am going to attempt to set it up on a different server here in a little bit.

    Please let me know if you form it out! I entirely disabled DHCP, going static for now.

    Helloooooo,

    Have you allocated 200.1.1.0/27 by your local authority or by your ISP? If you haven't you actually must not be using it. You are free to use any of the non-routable IP ranges as defined by RFC 1918. These are 10.0.0.0/8, 172.16.0.0/12 and 192.168.0.0/16.

    I am about to modify it from 200.1.1.0 to 192.168.0.0, didn't recognize it would clash on the net 8.

    New copy of Win2k8R2 now up and I am going to follow your IP advice. Do I want to have DNS server installed? Or RRAS and DHCP must be good for what I want.

    You don't want it if you desire local DNS or if you are going to run Active Directory.

    I got it to work. Thanks for help. Active Directory's subsequently step, is DNS server going to jumble up routing config?

    No, it must all go down into place. You might want to organize DHCP server.
