Thread: windows Vista won't Repair? resolution

I just surprised if files on hard disk can avoid Vista from repairing. First problem was it wouldn't boot blank screen with mouse even in safe mode. Insert vista disk and attempting to reinstall repair ended in a bsod with error 0xa and IRQL NOT LESS THAN EQUAL. Even after doing chkdsk /r. Therefore I duplicated drive and used duplicated drive to do this still no luck. Formatted that drive and tried a new install and it worked but I want to use original os. I even bought a substitute MB thinking it was that. Does this mean that files on original drive unable to repair?

1. Which Vista? 32 or 64 bit? Which service pack?

2. Please give BSOD information.

3. With what are you attempting to repair Vista? A Vista DVD from Microsoft? An OEM OS DVD? A system restore / recovery disk from company?

4. Have you original motherboard in PC?

5. Did you attempt to read each file?

6. Have you run SFC?

1/ 32 bit

2/ This occurs when I attempt to repair it with Vista CD - Click to boot from CD and this happens:
IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL
0x0000000A (0x95EC010E, 0X00000002, 0X00000000, 0X888BA8D7)

3/ It looks like a MS CD with hologram but came from PC company. Licensed for distribution only with new PC.

4/ Original MB

5/ Not sure - many directories listed

7/ can’t run SFC - can’t get into Vista.
