    Default No Regedit Command Prompt

I have a many problems on a Vista machine. Internet explorer, Firefox and Chrome are unable to access WWW. Google earth works, as does AOL browser. I cannot obtain a command prompt and if I attempt to run IPCONFIG etc, I just obtain a brief flash on screen. Are they all related or got many problems? I have done a system restore but to nothing happen.

Attempt starting in safe mode with networking aim F8 on boot and see if you can access net ,also attempt running sfc /scnw to test for errors.

I have started in safe mode and uncheck ipv6, but still won’t play. I cannot run SFC etc because command prompt window just flashes onto the screen.

    Thanks for the help.

    Hi,

You want to open a cmd window before running those commands. They run within a cmd prompt. If you attempt to run them from run box they will just run real quick and close which is flash you see.

I can't open a cmd window. Task manager is also disabled. It’s my son’s PC and it looks as if he's got a virus. I can run reg edit, and have enabled command prompt. I am unwilling to do this, but I am receiving to stage where it may be faster to back up some documents and re-load Vista. Is there a point where windows become so injured that a re-install is solution?
