This is video making or editing software, integrated in Microsoft Windows. It has aspects like effects, transitions, titles or credits, audio track, timeline narration, and Auto Movie. Latest effects and transitions can be made and existing ones can be changed using XML code. It is also a basic audio track editing program. It can affect basic results to audio tracks like fade in or fade out. The audio tracks can then be exported in form of a sound file rather than a video file. The primary edition was obtainable for Windows Me, Windows XP, with other XP editions.

Development of Windows Movie Maker was discarded after release of Windows Vista; its replacement, Windows Live Movie Maker, will be included with Windows Live Essentials, a free download from Windows Live; though Microsoft has declared that Windows Live Movie Maker will not have similar aspects as Windows Movie Maker.
