When installing Windows Vista. You obtain a blue screen of death error:

STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failure}

The almost certainly reason of this is hard drive is broken and should be repaired. CHKDSK /R want to be run to attempt to fix it. For this, try steps given below:

1. Start PC with your Windows installation disc.

2. When you are asked to choose Repair or Recover, press R.

3. Type Administrator password when ask.

4. At command prompt, type CHKDSK /R, and then hit Enter.

5. Read the results, and then take any steps that you should take to finish process. You want to run CHKDSK /F instead to repair problem.

6. Reboot PC, and see if Windows works now.

If this did not repair the problem, you have to change hard drive.
