How can I record my , voice straight onto a blank: CD? I have a microphone for my Windows Vista computer and the audio software Audacity installed.
Generally speaking, it is a good idea to record the audio to the computer and then bum it to disc in two separate steps. Recording directly to the CD risks wasting a CD if you make a mistake or if there is a ptoblem with the computer.
There is no reason why you cannot record your piece with Audacity in one take, avoiding the need for any complicated editing, but there are some useful editing steps. For example, the Normalise effect balances the volume of the track making it easier to listen to.
Click on an empty area of the track volume and pan bar to select the entire track. Click on the Effect menu and then on Normalize. This will even out the volume in the audio file. Click on Preview to hear how the change will affect the track, then click on OK to apply the change.
