Default Imperial versus metric on vista

I would like to use imperial units on my computer because I find the metric system very confusing. On my computer's Control Panel there was no Date, Time, Language and Regional Options, and there was no mention on other oflmperial or metric measurements. I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium.

The tip referred to Windows XP. In Vista, you'll find the appropriate settings under the Regional and Language Options in the Control Panel. Double-click this icon to see a I ist of options for how things should be displayed. At the bottom, click the 'Customize this format' button and you'll see a second list, at the bottom of which is an entry marked 'Measurement system'. Click the dropdown menu and select US from the list, then click OK and OK again to close the two windows, and close the control panel. After restarting the computer, this will change the behaviour of some programs so that they use inches rather than centimetres for measurement. Bear in mind that some programs use their own settings, though, so you may need to change each program individually. Usually this will be listed under Preferences or Options. For instance, in Word, click Tools, then Options, then the General tab, and select Inches from the dropdown list marked Measurement.
