By Vista default settings, AutoPlay window opens automatically every time new device or new media is attached to PC. There may be instances when you want AutoPlay to open and it does not, or you want it not to open and it does. Also modify settings related with AutoPlay.
Instructions
Turn AutoPlay On or Off
Step 1
Go to "Start". Open "Control Panel".
Step 2
In "Hardware and jingle" click on "AutoPlay" as an option.
Step 3
Choose box, "Use AutoPlay for all media and devices" if AutoPlay is not on and you would like it to function when putting media in it. To turn off it, click "Use AutoPlay for all media and devices" box to eliminate check in box. "Click "Save."
Change AutoPlay Settings
Step 1
Go to "Start" and open "Control Panel".
Step 2
In "Hardware and jingle" click "AutoPlay" as an option.
Step 3
Look below "Media" header and find setting you would like to modify. Options contain settings for media like "DVDs," "CDs," "Pictures" and "Audio Files."
Step 4
Click in drop-down box adjacent to item and select one choice. These choices contain items like "Ask me every time," "Create a CD using iTunes" and "Take no action."
Step 5
Click "Save."
