Thread: Stop EDID in Vista

Hello all

EDID is standard for monitors where creator program all refresh rates, solutions and other aspects by a chip which is placed on monitor itself, and that read by OS. The OS Vista severely forces EDID and there looks to be no way to stop this so that you can use .inf driver. EDID was only programmed to support 1600 x 1200.

So please provide me any solution about this. Any help will be appreciated.

Disable EDID on DVI by removing pins fixed on VGA cable. Pin 12 on VGA cable has to be deleted, then after attaching it to VGA->DVI adapter and it must not able to get EDID info. Also attempt DVI cable and VGA with all pins in first if you’re going for dual monitor support. And you can override EDID info via nvidia drivers if you can read EDID, for single monitor support.

In XP you can disable the EDID simply. As there are no hacks available to stop EDID in Vista like there are in XP. I think ATI drivers have option to disable EDID but NVIDIA drivers don’t.

Use Powerstrip software to flash EDID. And program to support solutions that are lacking.
