Sound or video issues, printer problems and scanner troubles can all be caused by drivers that are incompatible with the version of Windows you're using. Click Start then right-click My Computer (or Computer in Vista), then select Manage.

Click Device Manager in the left-hand column, then look through the list on the right for any components with question mark or exclamation mark icons. These usually denote driver problems, so if you find one try downloading the latest driver from the website of the company that makes the part in question.
