When a network domain controller goes down, you may want the domain con¬troller locator to find and connect to the next-closest DC, but the feature is off by default. Turn it on by enabling the TryNext¬ClosestSite Group Policy setting. Tech-Net provides the info at /technet when you search for "next closest."
