Thread: Edit HOSTS files using NOTEPAD

Hi everyone. I want to edit hosts file using notepad. When using notepad to edit the HOSTS file or any other administrative or system file, you will get an access denied error when trying to save the modified file. If anybody knows how to edit HOSTS files using NOTEPAD then please let me know that.

To Edit HOSTS files using NOTEPAD, follow these simple steps

• Click start and Type: notepad

• Right-click notepad

• Click "Run As Administrator"

• After you have opened an "administrator" notepad, you may open and edit administrative files.

Try this:

1. Right click on Notepad and pick Run as administrator. Click on File then Open then browse to

\windows\system32\drivers\etc

2. In the drop down list change Text files (*.txt) to All files (*.*)

3. Open the hosts file and edit.
