Sometime we discussed the Favourite Links folder in Vista Explorer,
but we missed a few tricks. First the obvious - you can turn the Navigation pane on or off: if you don't see it, click on the Organise button, then on Layout, then Navigation pane.
Second, there's a much easier way to add links than by opening the Favourite Links folder - just drag folders on to the FL pane and you'll create a shortcut (see screen 5). If you're not seeing all your links the last item is a 'More' button that pops up a menu of the rest. A neater way is to drag the title of the Folders pane down or collapse it completely with the down arrow.
