The operating system Windows Vista offers a variety of cool new features, looks better equipped and more robust security system than Windows XP. But as is always the case when upgrading software, something lacking - after installing the new OS may discover that some functions or capabilities, it lacks. Fortunately, very often the problem can be solved by simply downloading the required applications by editing the registry or by using one of the "undocumented" receptions.

1: Why am I not able to separate toolbar?
When setting up a new operating system for everyday use, I especially in changing the habits according to their desktop configuration. Over the years, this process involved dragging quick launch icon in the task bar and the main deployment of its vertical side. In doing so, in the system tray on my appears more open space for programs, but on quick launch icon - more room for icons and user-friendly applications for quick access.

Fortunately, I did find the way things Quick Launch where it according to my understanding, should be:
1. In Windows (Windows Explorer), find the folder quick launch "Quick Launch" (usually the way it looks so - Application Data \ Microsoft \ Internet Explorer). Thanks to the search function in the Start menu, "" Vista find it very easy: Just type in the search bar "Quick Launch".
2. Podtaschite folder "Quick Launch" to the edge of the desktop - with a dashboard. You can click on it right mouse button and select an item in the context menu "View | Small icons" (View | Small Icons), to make it more attractive.

Thus, you can create a toolbar from any folder. Figure A shows my desk with a separate panel Vista Quick Start, which labels are my favorite programs. I closed Quick Launch icon on the taskbar Vista and instead created its own toolbar for quick access to frequently used folders and disks.
Figure A: Create separate Quick Launch can podtaschiv folder to the desktop edge.
2: Text installation procedure is no longer
Most likely, mourn the loss of this function, no one will be, but for those who for many years installs Windows operating systems, the lack of "first" Act installation process with the white text on blue background - a great innovation. The installer Vista with the very first steps impressive graphical interface. He looks very nice, pleasantly surprising the user, and that was one of the tasks of Microsoft when working on visual processing Vista.
3: What happened to my favorite applications from independent producers?

In some cases, install or run older programs can use compatibility regime. To do this:
1. In Windows (Windows Explorer), find the installation executable file or program.
2. Click on it right mouse button and select the context menu item "Properties" (Properties).
3. Open the "Compatibility" (Compatibility).
4. Select the "Run this program in compatibility mode with…" (Run This Program In Compatibility Mode For), and select from the drop-down list of the operating system, which used to it (for example, Windows XP Service Pack 2).
5. It may be necessary to have the "Start program on behalf of the administrator" (Run The Program As An Administrator).

If that does not help, you can try to change your system to run the program (for example, adjust color depth and screen resolution), or disable visual design theme, the elements of desktop and / or image scaling.
Another program that works in XP, but it may not go under the Vista - this application for Diskeeper disk defragmentation. Hence we have the logical way to proceed next missing functions, which may need to defrag utility of the independent producer.
4: Where Share indicators of progress defrag?
Vista for the defrag utility now has the function of the calendar, which users have long dreamed of. But not everyone likes the simplicity of the new interface applications for the defragmentation, as well as the lack of progress indicators (how defragmentation process in progress is shown in Figure C).

Figure E: Vista does support work with multiple monitors, but set the system far more complex than XP.
Nevertheless, support for multiple monitors in Vista is not as stable as XP. Although I have installed the final version of Vista, occasionally when my computer turns out that monitors mysteriously swapped "in the eyes of" operating system - the task bar and sidebar move from an average monitor on the right, who first becomes that became a major. Correct the situation is very simple - enough to change a couple of variables into the "Properties" screen (Display Properties), as shown in Figure F, but did so annoying. I really lacks a simple and comprehensible user support multiple monitors XP.
Figure F: Vista sometimes "forget" what I appointed monitor major.
6: Where disappeared Windows Messenger?
In XP operating system for rapid application messaging Windows Messenger was installed by default. In Vista it is not - but in the "Start" menu, there is a link to the page from which you can download the Windows Live Messenger. Some need to download and install the software does not have to taste (especially those who do not have the right to install applications), but in principle it's a good idea - for two reasons:

1. In the Control Panel (Control Panel), select "Administration" (Administrative Tools). In the resulting dialog box, select "Local Security Policy" (Local Security Policy).
2. In UAC dialog box, click "Continue" (Continue).
3. In the bar at the left side of the window, expand the menu "Local Policies" (Local Policies), and select "Security Settings" (Security Options).
4. In the bar at the right side of the window, find the item "Control of user accounts: Conduct a request for privileges for administrators in the approval of the administrator" mode (User Account Control: Behavior Of The Elevation Prompt For Administrators In Admin Approval Mode), and double-click on It left mouse button.
5. On the Settings tab, "local security" (Local Security Settings), select "Raise privileges without asking" (Elevate Without Prompting), as shown in Figure H.

6. Click "OK".
Figure H: Vista can be configured in such a way that the system does not seek confirmation from the administrators to perform administrative tasks.

Council
Using the console "Options local security" (Local Security Settings) can change the behaviour of a number of security systems. For example, I had to turn off "policy control of user accounts: If the request is to increase the conversion to secure privileges desktop" (User Account Control: Switch To The Secure Desktop When Prompting For Elevation) to capture the screen dialog request for privilege shown in Figure G. The default mode safe desktop does not allow any interaction with other programs when such a dialog.

8: Windows Explorer looks in a different way
For the first familiarization with the updated Windows Explorer (Windows Explorer), the new design can enter you into confusion. In particular, you will certainly miss the good old menu bar - the one in which your "File" menu (File), "Edit" (Edit), "Weed" (View), "Favorites" (Favorites), "Service" ( Tools), and "Help" (Help). In fact, to dispense with it is quite difficult. The new Explorer is shown in Figure I.

10: In Vista had to press a lot more buttons
Many new users Vista complain that to carry out some operations here have to press the buttons much more than in XP. For example, XP could right-click on the icon "My Network Places" (Network), and choose "Properties" (Properties) to see their network connections.

Figure K: Some users do not like the fact that the list of network connections is not to call two mouse clicks.
If every time you once held such a long way to see a list of network connections, you can create a shortcut to it by dragging the icon on the desktop (see Fig. L) or Quick Launch, and then you can open up a list of connections is not even two double click speed, but one.
