How Do I Know If My Device Needs New Drivers?

Hardware drivers get updated by manufacturers constantly. Bugs are discovered in the current version, security vulnerabilities are fixed, and support is needed for newer operating systems. Unfortunately for you, hardware manufacturers do not make much of an effort to alert people about these new drivers. Here are the tell-tale signs that it may be time for a driver update:

• Is your computer old? Drivers will be updated several times during the lives of most hardware. If your computer is more than one year old, chances are the drivers have been updated.

• Did you upgrade your operating system? If you update your operating system, you will most likely have to install new drivers.

• Check with the manufacturer: Your PC's manufacturer should be able to tell you if your current drivers are the most recent versions.
