Microsoft has announced an extension of six months for the time period for which PC makers can use' downgrade rights' to switch from Windows Vista to Windows XP on their machines. In the face of demand for continued access to Windows XP and dissatisfaction with Vista, Microsoft has moved out the time frame for downgrade rights to XP from January 31, 2009 to July 31,2009.
