Default Windows XP SP2 and Internet Explorer 7

Dear Dr CHIP, I am using a Dell Dimension 4300 desktop computer with Windows XP SP2 and Internet Explorer 7. I am using a registered version of Grisoft AVG 8.0. For the past three weeks the website has been giving me problems. I click on the Internet banking button and I get a new page to fill my user name and password and so I log in. When I click any link to payor view my account, I get logged out immediately. I cannot do anything in my own account.

I have contacted the technical support at my bank and they say there is nothing wrong with their website and nobody else has complained about the same problem. The bank's condition is to use only Internet Explorer 6 or above. They don't recommend/allow Opera or Mozilla Firefox. I have contacted AVG support man'y times and they say there is no problem with their software either. I can use my bank account normally from any other computer. I have used different antivirus programs like ComboFix, CCleaner, Crapware, Avast AntiVirus, Zone Alarm, S."art AV, Spybot S&D and Grisoft AVG 8, but to no avail. I face this problem only with this bank's website. Please help me. Thanks in advance.

The problem lies with Internet Explorer itself. Check if you have cleaned out all the cookies, forms and the cache. Assuming that your computer is virus free, is your Windows operating system up-to-date? Do keep your computer's operating system updated at all times using the Windows Update tool from time to time. This should solve most problems. Additionally, perform the following steps every week if you are often browsing the internet.

    - Open Internet Explorer.

    - Click on 'Tools I Internet Options' ~ Click the 'Delete' button under the 'Browsing history' section

    - Click on the 'Delete all' button on the next screen. Confirm with 'Yes' when prompted.

    - Next click on the 'Advanced' tab and click on the 'Restore advanced settings' button.
    Confirm with 'OK'.

Checkif the website now lets you log in. Make sure your firewall software (if any) is not, interfering with that particular website. Also make sure that there is no virus or malware interfering with your Internet surfing. Viruses and malware are known to bluff.you into belieVing that there is a problem with some websites, and then diverting important data
such as your username, password and account details to a hacker.
