Thread: Other operating systems

When researching this feature, we were curious to see how long other companies have supported their operating systems for. The increasingly popular open source Linux distributions are rarely supported for as long as Windows operating systems are. Ubuntu Linux is ordinarily supported for just 18 months, although there are 'Long Term Supported' versions that get three years of updates. Of course, upgrading to the latest version does not cost any money, but it can be inconvenient.

Apple did not respond to our requests for information - we found that Apple users were not aware of how long their copies of Apple OS X are supported for, although they knew that updates are provided on a regular basis.
