For running Windows 98 / ME Safe Mode, as the computer is booting then press and hold your "F8 key" from the top of the keyboard or press and hold the left or right Ctrl key till the computer is booting. If the whole process is done properly you will get into the "Windows 98 / ME Startup Menu" on the screen

Note: Some of the computers you can press and hold a key as the computer is booting you will get a stucky key message displaying on the screen. If this message occurs repeatedly instead of pressing and holding the "F8 key", then tap the "F8 key" continuously until you don’t get the startup menu on the screen.
