Errors are been created by software programs which can also lead your computer to reboot without prior notice or without warning. If you are running Windows XP see the below section "For Windows XP users" before ongoing further.

If you are not running Windows XP or follow the below given steps still effect your computer to reboot without caution. Boot your computer into Safe Mode, and allow the computer to run in Safe Mode.

If the computer is still rebooting in Safe Mode the issue is likely not software allied but something else, skip then skip to the next section. If the computer is not rebooting in Safe Mode then it is likely that your software is related to any issue. We would advise you to run with the basic troubleshooting section for your computer operating system.

Windows XP is intended to mechanically reboot each time when an error is occurring like a BSoD. Even though this may be nice for errors that do not occur often, users who are re-occurring error which may wish to identify the error to troubleshoot it. Following are the steps on how this feature can be stopped and start in Windows XP.

1. From the desktop right-click on My Computer.

2. Click the Properties option.

3. In the System Properties window click the Advanced tab.

4. In Advanced click the Settings button under the Startup and Recovery.

5. In the Startup and Recovery window uncheck the Automatically restart check box.

6. Finally click at Ok.

Now your computer will produce any error then it will not mechanically restart and will allow you to display the error which computer is having in it.

If any failure of hardware constituent in your computer which would result your computer to suddenly produce an error and/or reboot the computer without giving any notice. If you have just tried to add a new hardware device, than remove that device and make sure that it is not generating the problem or error to the issue. Also be sure that you are not been installing any hardware conflicts by screening the Device Manager for errors.

New drivers can also result this type of problem, if you have just performed any hardware driver updates you may wish to try an earlier version of the drivers.
If you have updated the drivers and detached any of the hardware that might also be causing this problem and carry on further to understand the casual reboots, it's likely that the memory is bad in the computer.

Lastly, the hardware devices which are not been installed properly in the computer can also result in casual reboots. Also see to it that all the cables and expansion cards are connected properly to the computer. The best way for checking it is to disconnect and reconnect all the cables and expansion cards too.

Computer viruses which are like blaster virus are printed to reboot your computer without giving you any notice. Generally we can see these viruses will make the computer to reboot every 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes after when the computer has been booted.

If you consider that your computer may also be attacked by a virus or are unsure if your computer is contaminated with a virus make sure your virus scanner definitions are been updated to the date.

Many computers nowadays are so designed to turn off or routinely reboot if the computer, processor, or other device in your computer gets to hot. You may also have heard about the irregular noises which may be coming from your computer in recent times such as a high squealing of this could also show that a fan may be weakening in your computer.

You can first start it by examing the fan on the power supply which is working by inspecting the back of the computer and checking that the fan is working very smoothly. For all other fans in the computer you will require to open the computer and also confirm that the fan are working properly and/or if your BIOS monitors the RPM of the fans then enter the BIOS and also see to it that the BIOS does not result in any errors.

Users might also be able to verify how hot their computer is committed by the thermal sensors, if your computer comes outfitted with these sensors make sure your CPU is not running to hot.
